Eliciting laughter from the children-participants, Lolo Jaime Alfonso from the Haven for the Elderly narrated the story titled, ‘Ingat, Munting Sisiw’, during the launch of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) intergenerational project, “Apo Ko: Kwento ni Lolo’t Lola, Gabay ng Kabataan” on Thursday (February 20) at the Haven for the Elderly in Tanay, Rizal.
Lolo Jaime is a member of the “Dream Team” of ‘lolos’ and ‘lolas’ from the DSWD’s centers and residential care facilities (CRCF) who will share their stories to 4 to 5-year-olds as part of the project.
When asked by Lolo Jaime what they learned from the story, the children chimed, “Mahalin ang magulang.”
The innovative project is DSWD’s model of intervention designed to foster meaningful connections between the older persons in DSWD’s CRCFs and children aged 4 to 5 years from child development centers.
