September 25, 2024

The Walang Gutom Kitchen initiative of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) got a big boost with the coming on board of the McDonald’s Philippines through its managing director Margot Torres (in blue) who met with Secretary Rex Gatchalian on Tuesday (September 24) at the DSWD Central Office in Quezon City.

The DSWD chief, along with Undersecretary for Innovations Edu Punay, thanked Ms. Torres for bringing hope and nourishment to the poor, vulnerable and marginalized. The Walang Gutom Kitchen, the agency’s latest initiative, is basically a soup kitchen for the poor with the opening date targeted for the year end.

Also joining  Secretary Gatchalian in thanking Mcdonald’s Philippines is Asst. Secretary for Innovations Baldr Bringas, Social Technology Bureau (STB) Director Marilyn Moral, who is also the Pag-Abot Program Team Leader, and Pag-Abot Program Implementation Officer-in-Charge (OIC)-Division Chief Jayson Oabel.

McDonald’s Philippines, known locally and colloquially and shortened as McDo, is the master franchise of the multinational fast food chain McDonald’s in the country.

The master franchise is held by the Golden Arches Development Corporation, a subsidiary of Alliance Global Group.
