The new chairperson of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) Meynardo Sabili pays a courtesy visit to Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian on Tuesday (September 25) at the DSWD Central Office in Quezon City.

During the meeting, the PCUP chair, a former Lipa City mayor, enjoyed an afternoon banter with Secretary Gatchalian, himself a three-term mayor of Valenzuela City and a former colleague in the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP).

The PCUP is a supervised agency of the DSWD. It serves as a direct link of the urban poor to the government in policy formulation and program implementation addressing their needs. The PCUP also coordinates and monitors the implementation of government policies and programs for the urban poor, as well as accredits legitimate Urban Poor Organizations for representation in the formulation of recommendations relative to the sector.
