In continuation of the relief efforts for the survivors and bereaved families of those who perished in the Naga City, Cebu landslide incident, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has, to date released, P5,237,204.28 worth of assistance.

In addition, the DSWD-Field Office (FO) VII reported that the city government of Naga will provide up to P150,000 financial assistance to each of the 444 families living in areas identified by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) as delineated critical or danger zones. These families are prevented from returning to their houses situated in said hazardous areas.

Aside from financial assistance, the displaced families were also given the option to receive housing units from the National Housing Authority (NHA) in two identified relocation sites in Balili property in Naga City and in Brgy. Valencia in Carcar City.

The DSWD FO-VII also helped city and provincial government personnel in the management of evacuation centers to monitor the situation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who returned to the temporary shelters after the observance of the Undas.

Natonin landslide

In another related report, the DSWD FO in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) continues its operations to assist families affected by the landslide incident in Natonin, Mt. Province.

The FO is expected to provide P5,000 cash aid to affected families which will be given in addition to the burial assistance that will cover the funeral services for the landslide casualties.

Likewise, the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Team of Mt. Province reported that the provincial local government unit (PLGU) will haul family food packs (FFPs) from Lagawe, Ifugao to Natonin for distribution to barangays that are still isolated. ###
