The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was once again recognized for its contribution to the overall progress and development of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Program, during the 2022 FOI Awards on November 25.

The DSWD was awarded as one of the top requested and performing agencies with 1,000 and above requests and with at least 90% closed transactions in the eFOI Portal.

In the previous years, the Department also managed to successfully process and close at least 90% of the 1000 and 500 above requests in 2021 and 2020, respectively, and has garnered the FOI Champion Award in 2019.

Other agencies that were recognized under the same category were the Department of Health, Philippine Statistics Authority, National Telecommunications Commission, National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Labor and Employment, Employees’ Compensation Commission, and the Philippine National Police.

The FOI Program is one of the government’s responses to the call for transparency and full disclosure of information to the public. Through the FOI, Filipinos can request any information relative to government transactions and operations, provided that privacy and matters of national security shall not be put in jeopardy. ###
