Stranded construction workers in the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman receive hygiene kits and family food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through the Office of Assistant Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group (OASDRMG), Disaster Response Management Bureau (DRMB) and Field Office (FO) National Capital Region (NCR), facilitated an on-site distribution of family food packs and hygiene kits to the stranded construction workers and students in the University of the Philippines-Diliman Campus, Quezon City on April 29.

Led by DSWD Assistant Secretary Rodolfo Encabo and DSWD Regional Director Vicente Gregorio Tomas, the team distributed a total of 600 Family Food Packs (FFPs)

and 600 hygiene kits to the stranded construction workers, while another 600 FFPs were given to stranded UP Diliman students.

Gayunpaman, nais naming pasalamatan ang DSWD sapagkat hindi nila kami pinabayaan at hindi sila nakalimot,” said Jhonie Barlaan, one of the stranded construction workers who received relief assistance.

The Department will continue to reach out to affected citizens and ensure the smooth distribution of relief assistance in areas placed under the enhanced community quarantine. ###
