The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) awarded livelihood settlement grants (LSG) amounting to Php 340,000 to 17 former rebels (FRs) on December 20, at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.

The assistance will enable the former rebels, who wish to be reintegrated into society, to engage in livelihood enterprises such as livestock, merchandising, retail, and wholesale. The recipients of the grants submitted their proposals to the DSWD which assessed and provided the corresponding budget allocation.

The program supports the goal of the National Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict to attain inclusive and sustainable peace in accordance with Executive Order (EO) No. 70, series of 2018.  The EO 70 is the national law that institutionalizes the whole-of-nation approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace. ###
