In an effort to ensure the safety of evacuees amid Mayon Volcano’s unrest, DSWD Bicol Regional Director Norman Laurio made the rounds today (June 9) in two evacuation centers in the
municipalities of Camalig and Guinobatan to personally check on their situation and ensure that they are properly provided with food and other basic needs.

The FO V Director also inspected the evacuation centers to see if there are facilities such as kitchen, restrooms and sleeping quarters for the evacuees.

Director Laurio ordered all members of the Field Office’s disaster teams to continue coordinating with their counterparts in the local government units for synchronized and orderly management of the evacuation centers.

All disaster teams will be rendering 24/7 duty by shifting to ensure that the needs of the evacuees are immediately addressed.

After his visit at the town’s evacuation center, the Director met with Camalig Mayor Carlos Irwin Baldo Jr and his team to discuss relief operations for his constituents.

With DSWD Field Office V as Vice-Chair for Disaster Response, Director Laurio also met with the Office of Civil Defense for further steps to be taken in responding to the heightened unrest of Mayon. #
