Department of Social Work and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian on Friday (June 30) ordered the Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) to beef up the supply of family-food packs (FFPs) in DSWD warehouses in the Bicol Region.

“We have to make sure that we finish the delivery of family food packs ration to all local government units good for 15-days of supply. You have to give it to them before July 2,” Secretary Gatchalian said in his directive to DSWD Bicol Regional Director Norman Laurio.

The second wave of FFPs allocated for LGUs in Albay province will cover the 15-day period of July 2-17.

The DSWD chief also directed DRMG Asst. Secretary Marlon Alagao to stock up the FFPs supply in the Matnog warehouses in Sorsogon province.

“We need to stock up in Matnog. Then we replenish the FFPs stocks in Albay,” Secretary Gatchalian said in his directive to DRMG.

DRMG Asst. Secretary Alagao told the DSWD chief that the Matnog warehouse has a maximum capacity of 20,000 FFPs.

“We have 6,000 FFPs delivered to Matnog yesterday (Thursday) and another 7,000 FFPs will be sent today with the remaining balance of 7,000 to be delivered by Saturday,” Asst. Secretary Alagao said.

The DRMG asst. secretary said the Albay DSWD warehouses will be replenished by 50,000 FFPs while the initial delivery of 25,000 will be part of the deployment plan.

The DSWD Bicol Regional Office on Thursday (June 29) delivered a total of 6,000 family food packs (FFPs) to the warehouse in Matnog town in Sorsogon province as part of Field Office V’s prepositioning of relief goods.

Boxes of FFPs were also delivered Friday to Mayon-affected families in the Camalig evacuation centers.

On Friday (June 30), FO V personnel started delivering the second wave of FFPs to Malilipot town and the cities of Tabaco, Ligao and Daraga.

Bicol region personnel are also busy repacking the canned goods which were sent by the National Regional Operations Center (NROC) in Pasay City.#
