The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is closely monitoring and coordinating with the nine local government units (LGUs) in Maguindanao that are currently experiencing heavy downpour  resulting to flash floods. 

Heavy rains started on October 13 and caused massive flooding in the municipalities of Sultan Mastura, Datu Salibo, Shariff Saidona, Datu Montawal, Ampatuan, Datu Abdulah Sangki, Rajah Buayan, Sultan sa Barongis, and Pagalungan.

As of press time, some 22,496 families or 109,090 persons  have been affected by the flooding.

DSWD-Field Office XII is in close coordination with the provincial government of Maguindanao for technical assistance and resource augmentation (TARA).

DSWD has a total of P682,172,486.02 in standby funds and stockpiled relief goods ready for augmentation to affected LGUs.

DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo said, “Patuloy naming binabantayan ang sitwasyon ng ating mga apektadong kababayan sa Maguindanao, at nakahanda din kaming kagyat na magbigay ng tulong (We continue to monitor the situation of our affected countrymen in Maguindanao, and we are also ready to immediately provide assistance).” ###
