Department of Social and Welfare and Development Undersecretary for Inclusive and Sustainable Peace Alan A. Tanjusay shares insights during the MILF Normalization Program Implementation Review.

In an effort to improve and strengthen its peace programs, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) conducted its Program Implementation Review (PIR) for the Socio-Economic Development Programs for Normalization for the Decommissioned Combatants (DCs) of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in the Bangsamoro.

Held on December 12-16, this PIR was the first assessment activity for the MILF Normalization program implementation of DSWD since its inception in 2015.

The activity served as a venue for DSWD Field Office XII and the Office of the Presidential Adviser for Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) to present their processes and raise their concerns pertaining to the implementation of the program, as well as plans for 2023.

The MILF Normalization Program aims to provide Php 100,000 outright cash assistance to decommissioned combatants in exchange for participation in the socio-economic growth and democratic governance of their communities. This assistance comprises Php 80,000 that covers their basic needs and Php 20,000 for their livelihood.

Through this activity, the DSWD looks forward to a better implementation of the MILF Normalization Program. ###
