The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Policy Development and Planning Bureau (PDPB), engages with representatives of select local government units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region and members of the academe to generate collective ideas and concepts in delivering more effective and efficient social protection services to the public.

During the policy dialogue on Wednesday (April 17) at the DSWD Central Office in Quezon City, PDPB Director Rhodora Alday welcomed the participants and noted the importance of bringing together ideas that will be helpful in crafting policy papers on the different emerging social development issues.

A panel of speakers discussed varied topics that include Dr. Elma Laguna, Director, University of the Philippines Population Institute who talked about adolescent pregnancy; Dr. Emerson G. Aliswag, LPT, RN, MSN-AHN, DNS faculty, Trinity University of Asia -St Luke’s Graduate School of Nursing who tackled mental health and well-being of frontliners; Dr. Aser Javier who presented the concepts of technical assistance and resource augmentation; and Dr. Alvin Ang; Ateneo De Manila University Economics professor who delved on the concept of cost care for centers and residential facilities.

The policy dialogue was attended by employees of the DSWD Central and Field Offices. #
