The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), along with other national government agencies, is joining the commemoration of the Philippines’ 118th Independence Day from June 11-12 at the Rizal Park, Manila.

With the theme, “Kalayaan 2016: Pagkakaisa, Pag-aambagan, Pagsulong”, the celebration will feature the accomplishments of the different government agencies, as well as emphasize the need for all Filipinos to contribute to the country’s development.

DSWD will be participating in the exhibit to share the thrusts and gains of its different core programs and services such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS), and the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

Selected families who have started their own entrepreneurial projects through SLP will also be showcasing their products during the two-day event.

Moreover, the Department will join the job fair spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Another highlight of  the 118th Independence Day Celebration will be the simultaneous official flag raising ceremonies at the Rizal Monument and in different historical landmarks around the country.

There will also be cultural shows, concert at the park, and a unique lights and sounds show featuring the final moments of the national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. ###
