In its continuing efforts to deliver timely and relevant government information to the public, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has partnered with the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) for the conduct of the “Explain, Explain, Explain: Pagdu-aw sa Bukidnon” information drive in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon on October 23, 2020.

The first in the series of advocacy and communications activities of DSWD, PCOO, and PIA, the event aimed to explain to the public the efforts of the government, especially in the midst of the pandemic, and to bring government’s programs and services closer to Filipinos.

DSWD Assistant Secretary Rhea Peñaflor and DSWD Spokesperson Irene B. Dumlao represented DSWD during the event.  PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar and PIA Director-General Ramon Cualoping III led the conduct of the activity, which was attended by residents from the Municipality of Impasug-ong.

Also present were Department of Health Director Beverly Ho and Impasug-ong Mayor Anthony Uy.

During the activity, DSWD Assistant Secretary Peñaflor explained the various programs and services of DSWD, highlighting the Listahanan or the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction. Listahanan is an information management system that aims to establish a database of poor households that will serve as a basis in the identification of beneficiaries for different social protection programs and services. In Region X, DSWD already assessed 894,290 households, of which, more than 83,000 have already been validated.

Meanwhile, PCOO Secretary Andanar and Director Ho highlighted the BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19 campaign of the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Apart from providing information, DSWD, through its Field Office X, also delivered relief assistance to the residents of Impasug-ong as part of its continued efforts to assist those who have been mostly affected by the pandemic. Indigenous peoples and other members of the vulnerable sectors identified by the local government unit were provided with family food packs from the Department.

DSWD, PCOO, and PIA, together with other government agencies, will stage “Explain, Explain, Explain” conferences in other regions to reach out and deliver government information and services to more Filipinos in need. ###
