Amid continued relief operations for victims of floods brought by the Southwest Monsoon, the DSWD is also preparing as typhoon ‘Helen’ intensifies.

Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman said that the DSWD regional offices along the path of typhoon ‘Helen’ have prepositioned P500,000 standby funds and 2,000 family packs worth P1 million pesos ready to be distributed to LGUs that will be affected by the typhoon.

At the same time, the National Resource Operations Center (NROC) has to date 156,980 food packs for victims of disasters.

Meanwhile, as of 8:00 a.m. today, August 14, a total of P41.6M worth of food and non-food assistance has already been released by the DSWD to families affected by floods.

Some 57,730 families with 260,484 persons are still being served in 698 evacuation centers.

In Region III, community kitchens were established in the 10 evacuation centers in Balanga and Hermosa in Bataan; and Norzagaray, Baliwag, Obando and Plaridel in Bulacan.

The DSWD Disaster Teams in all affected regions continue to operate 24/7 and coordinate with the LGUs to ensure immediate assistance in relief distribution, data generation, and management of evacuation centers.###
