The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Field Office in SOCCSKSARGEN Region, provided cash assistance and family food packs (FFPs) to the families and individuals in Cotabato who were affected by the flooding caused by the Southwest Monsoon and Super Typhoon Egay.

Some 11 families in the municipality of Libungan with totally damaged houses received emergency cash transfers (ECT) amounting to Php8,280 each while 22 families with partially damaged houses received Php4,140 each.

The Municipality of Midsayap also experienced flash floods with two and three houses reported to be totally and partially destroyed, respectively. The families with damaged houses received cash transfers from DSWD Field Office (FO)-12.

The FO-12 also distributed 336 FFPs to families taking temporary shelter in the evacuation centers in Pigcawayan. Sleeping kits were also provided to ensure their comfort and safety in the evacuation centers.

As of press time, the FO-12 has a stockpile of 167,826 FFPs and over Php55.94-million worth of other food and non-food items strategically prepositioned in the different warehouses in the region.

DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez said that the DSWD has sufficient funds to provide relief augmentation to the local government units stressing that the DSWD FO-12 has Php174.76 million worth of stockpile and standby funds. #
