The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided psychosocial intervention to the wife and child of the cop involved in the Tarlac shooting incident.

Social workers from DSWD Field Office III conducted on December 22 initial critical incident stress debriefing (CISD) to the mother and child to help them cope with the trauma brought about by the unfortunate incident.  They were assisted by staff from the Field Office and local government of Gerona, Tarlac during the debriefing at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital.

CISD is a process that allows survivors of natural and human-induced calamities as well as traumatic incidents to process and reflect on what has happened to them. It helps them to cope with their traumatic experiences by pouring out their feelings and fears.

Also, DSWD FO III has already provided on December 23 psychosocial debriefing to the family members of the victims of the incident.  Other members of the community who witnessed the unfortunate incident will also undergo similar intervention.

The Department will continue to monitor the families of the victims and the perpetrator to determine additional appropriate interventions for them. ###
