DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman links hands with DOH Secretary Enrique T. Ona (left) and PhilHealth President/CEO Eduardo P. Banzon to signify their partnership for the Philhealth para sa Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (5Ps)

In an effort to provide universal health access to poor families, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH) and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) formalized their partnership by signing a joint order for the Philhealth para sa Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program held recently at the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel, Mandaluyong City.

The program will benefit more than five million households identified as poor based on the National Household Targeting System (NHTS) and the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

The partnership with the Department of Health through PhilHealth will help monitor the health conditions of poor families. With this tie-up program, I hope there will no longer be any news about the ‘poor’ being unable to send their sick child or laboring mother to hospitals because of the lack of money for deposit,” Secretary Soliman enthused.

The collaboration also maximizes the limited resources of the government to guarantee the social protection and excellent health status of Filipinos, especially of the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged. ###
