Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian met with data experts from OCTA Research on Monday, February 13, to recalibrate the Department’s social protection programs and services anchored on the current and latest data trends.

The meeting aimed at making data-driven social protection packages that will resolve the development issues in the Philippines, particularly hunger and poverty problems.

OCTA Research President, Dr. Ranjit Rye and Chief Data Scientist, Dr. Guido David presented significant findings from their surveys that may serve as the basis for crafting and formulating mechanisms and systems for social protection.

The meeting with the OCTA Research Team is in line with the priorities of Secretary Gatchalian to enhance social protection by depending on data.

OCTA research is a team of researchers that makes use of polling to gather insightful data that will be prepped for analysis. ###
