In its continuing disaster response operations due to the effects brought by Super Typhoon Egay and the Southwest monsoon, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), reported on Thursday (July 27) that its Field Office (FO) in Cagayan Valley distributed additional family food packs (FFPs) and other relief items to the different municipalities in the region.

In addition to the prepositioned FFPs and other relief goods in the 93 local government units (LGUs) in Cagayan Valley, FO-2 personnel distributed 400 FFPs and non-food items (NFIs) in the municipality of Claveria; 500 in Sta. Praxedes; 300 in Sanchez Mira; 300 in Alcala; and 500 goods in Lallo.

Another 600 FFPs and 1,000 bottled water were also distributed in the municipality of Aparri while an additional 500 FFPs and 1,000 bottled water were immediately sent to the towns of Sta. Ana and Gonzaga, Cagayan.

Financial aid worth Php 10,000 under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program of the Department was also extended to the bereaved families of the typhoon victims.

Secretary Gatchalian has recently directed the Disaster Response and Management Team (DRMG) to dispatch a total of 17,000 family food packs to four DSWD warehouses in the Cagayan Valley Region.

As of press time, DSWD FO-2 has distributed more than Php 6.65 million to the 9,160 families or 29,639 individuals recorded to be affected in the 49 municipalities in Region 2.

The DSWD FO-2 continues to monitor and coordinate with different LGUs to immediately provide assistance needed by the typhoon-affected families. #
