As the Southwest Monsoon or ‘Habagat’  continues to bring rains in large part of Luzon,   some 2,798 families or 13,888 persons have evacuated from their places of origin and are now seeking temporary shelter in 98 evacuation centers set up by local government units (LGUs) in Regions I, III, NCR, CALABARZON, and CAR, according to the July 22, 5 am report of the Department of Social Welfare and Development- Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DSWD-DROMIC).

On the other hand,  57,545 families or 210,192 persons from Regions I, III, and VI  are staying with their relatives and friends.

Of the total number of evacuation centers, Central Luzon has 49 while Northern Luzon has 34.

The DSWD Field Office in Central Luzon remains on alert to monitor and coordinate with its Provincial Extension Offices in the 7 affected provinces on  the status of relief operations in the areas.

The Field Office is  also set to deliver 300 Family Food Packs to the LGU of Bagac on Tuesday, July 24,  for the affected fishermen in the town.

Likewise, the Field Office is waiting for the go signal of the LGU of Orani, Bataan for the delivery of  2,250 Family Food Packs.

Meanwhile, 2,000 Family Food Packs are being prepared as augmentation support to the 1st district of Nueva Ecija specifically for the towns of Licab, Cuyapo, Guimba, and Nampicuan.

Overall, as of press time,  a total of ₱9,168,987.44 worth of assistance has been provided to the affected families; ₱6,940,260.44 of which came from DSWD while ₱2,228,727 came from the LGUs.

DSWD Secretary Virginia Orogo has ordered all disaster teams in the affected areas to coordinate closely with the LGUs to determine other interventions needed by the affected families, especially that Tropical Storm Josie has also entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility. ###
