The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) and Rappler, is launching #HungerProject, an online platform which aims to raise awareness and inspire action against hunger and its related issues, on March 3, 10:00 am, at the SGV Conference Hall, 3rd floor, Institute of Management (AIM) in Makati City.

The launch will he held through a special episode of Rappler’s #TalkThursday webcast, hosted by Rappler CEO Maria Resa.

DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman will be joined by WFP country director Praveen Agrawal and Camarines Sur 3rd District Representative Leni Robredo in a discussion on the most pressing issues surrounding hunger in the Philippines, for the said episode entitled “#TalkThurday: The End of Hunger?”.

They will tackle the various efforts implemented and the measures that need to be undertaken to solve hunger.

The event is designed to bring together various hunger stakeholders from government, non-government organizations (NGOs), student groups, farmers, and advocates who can talk about issues and recommend how best to reduce, if not eliminate, hunger.

Sec. Soliman encourages everyone to join the discussion since “hunger is a multi-faceted issue, and solving it requires the combined effort of many different sectors.”

“It will require the will of the government, LGUs, public and private sectors, and civil society organizations to work together and make hunger a priority,” the Secretary ended.
