Some 693 families who were victims of a fire incident in Cavite City received cash assistance under the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Field Office (FO) CALABARZON .
The FO – CALABARZON conducted a payout activity on Tuesday, May 9,  at the Ladislao Diwa Elementary School, which is serving as an evacuation center.
Each family-beneficiary received P20,121 which they can use to purchase construction materials to rebuild or repair their damaged houses and to defray other necessities.
The DSWD released  more than P13.9 million for the cash aid.
Cavite First District Representative Jolo Revilla and his father, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr, were present during the payout to check on the situation of the fire-affected residents of Cavite City.
The DSWD-FO continues to coordinate with the city government to determine other services that may be provided to the victims.
The ECT is an “adaptive strategy in bridging the gaps between immediate disaster relief, humanitarian response and early recovery support through the provision of unconditional cash to victims of disasters and emergency situations requiring interventions.”# 5.9.23
