Key actors from international humanitarian, government and non-government organizations, donor agencies, and civil society groups commit to strengthen their collaboration and institutionalize Anticipatory Action (AA) in the Philippines during the May 11-12 event in Clark Field, Pampanga.
At the conclusion of the 6th National Dialogue Platform on Anticipatory Action led by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UN-FAO) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), members of the community of practice agreed on a set of priorities.
These are aimed at consolidating and harmonizing efforts aimed at helping reduce the devastating impacts of natural hazards on vulnerable communities, that include expanding the network of stakeholders to involve local government units (LGUs), the private sector, the academe and basic sectors, and creating a set of guidelines to standardize and integrate the application of AA.
Members of the National Technical Working Group on AA also vowed to work on creating a conducive policy environment for the adoption of the innovative approach to help save lives and livelihoods ahead of a disaster.#
